Normally this fault is purely down to wear an tear. The contacts inside the socket are sprung and can lose the contact over time.
Also dirt and dust can get inside and cause headphone jack connection problems.
The first thing we do before any repair is test the iPod 5 to check the fault. We will then proceed to open the iPod to replace the Headphoen socket. In the iPod Touch 5th generation model, the headphone socket is on the same flex cable as the home button and loudspeaker, and is soldered to the logic board. So all these parts will be swapped for new in teh same repair.
The iPod then gets put through to our test bench where its charge and durability is tested before releasing it for dispatch.
