The most common problem that we see is accidental damage. The metal housing where the volume buttons are is a weak spot and if it takes a knock in that area it can bend inwards and damage the internal buttons. One of the buttons is constantly pushed in so you would see the icon on the LCD showing the volume control all the time.
Sometimes, just wear and tear over time can cause the internal buttons to become unresponsive. This is more common on the home button.
The first thing we do before any repair is test the iPad Air to confirm the fault. We then open the iPad and proceed to swap the faulty button. If the housing is dented we shall try to straighten it out as much as possible. We then seal the iPad Air 2 back up and test all functions before sending it down to our test bench where it is tested further prior to being released for dispatch.
