The most common problem that we see is accidental damage. If the charging cable is inserted the wrong way round, or is yanked out it can cause damage to the internal parts of the port.
Dirt and dust can also build up inside the port and cause the contacts to not work as they should.
If the port looks okay but doesn't charge or connect to the computer, we recommend trying a different cable just to rule it out as being at fault.
The first thing we do before any repair is test the iPad to confirm the fault. We then open the iPad Air 2 and proceed to swap the faulty port. If the housing is dented, we try to straighten it out as much as possible. We then seal the iPad back up and test all functions before sending it down to our test bench where it is tested further prior to being released for dispatch.
