The most common problem that we see is accidental damage. Drops or impact to the camera areas can cause damage to the camera lenses.
Sometimes a camera can fail due to electrical component failure. If one camera fails it can stop you from switching to the other camera too. If the camera app is opened and shows a black screen and won't let you switch camera, this is due to one of the iPhone 5 camera being faulty.
Dust and dirt can also find there way inside the camera lens. This can cause blotches to appear on the pictures taken.
The first thing we do before any repair is test the iPhone to confirm the fault. We then open the iPhone 5 to gain access to the internal workings. We swap the broken camera for a new one, test the picture quality and seal it back down. The iPhone 5 then goes down to our testing bench where all functions are tested prior to dispatch.
