Normally this fault is purely down to wear and tear. The contacts inside the socket are sprung and can lose the contact over time.
Also dirt and dust can get inside and cause headphone jack connection problems.
We have had a few iPad Pros in where the jack from the headphones have snapped off inside the port. When this happens the port normally needs replacement.
How do we repair the iPad Pro headphone socket?
The first thing we do before any repair is test the iPad Pro to check the fault. We will then proceed to open the iPad by removing the screen to gain access to the internals. We then proceed to replace the headphone socket.
We will reassemble the iPad Pro and test it out before sending it down to the main testing area. Here all functions are tested before packaging the iPad ready for dispatch.
