The 30 pin dock connector or charging port on the iPad Mini 2 can become damaged whilst plugging in the USB cable. If the plug is damaged, it can bend the pins in the iPad Mini 2 dock connector. Also if the iPad is yanked while is it plugged in, it can damage the connecting pins too.
If the port looks ok, but the device still doesn't charge, it could be something more serious with the logic board and in some cases may not be repairable.
How do we repair the iPad Mini 2 dock connector?
The first thing we do before any repair is test the iPad to confirm the fault. We will then carefully remove the iPad screen. If there is a small crack in the screen it will need to be replaced as we will make it worse by opening the iPad. This is unavoidable as the only way to gain access is by taking the screen off so will be an additional cost.
We will then replace the faulty charging port with a new one and test it is working. We will then seal the iPad back up and take it to our testing bench.
